Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Authorities seized 100 litres of diesel allegedly procured through black-marketing and stored illegally for sale at inflated rates during raids at three locations in Ambad taluka on Saturday, intensifying action against fuel hoarding.Officials said the action followed specific tips about unauthorised storage and sale of diesel without licences.“The process of initiating legal action against the individuals involved, in accordance with the law, has been initiated. Storing highly flammable substances like petrol and diesel in an unlicensed and unsafe manner constitutes a serious offence as such practices carry an undeniable risk of triggering accidents or disasters,” Ambad tehsildar Vijay Chavan said.During the operation, the largest quantity — 50 litres — was recovered from an eatery in Shahapur village, followed by 40 litres from a multi-service centre in Chinchkhed and 10 litres from a grocery shop in Kanadgaon. The Jalna district administration warned that strict action would continue against those involved in illegal storage and sale of fuel.Jalna remains among the worst-hit districts in Marathwada due to the diesel shortage, with reports of supply strain and rising reliance on unauthorised channels.Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena (UBT) unit in Jalna on Saturday submitted a memorandum to the district administration demanding immediate intervention to ease the crisis and warned of a massive agitation if the situation does not improve.
