Diggy plans Ram temple ‘accountability’ yatra

Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh on Friday announced a foot march from Ujjain to Ayodhya beginning Oct 2 over the alleged Ram temple donation and offering theft, saying the yatra would be completely non-political, carry no political party flags and that he would not use social media throughout the journey.Addressing reporters outside his Bhopal residence, where posters reading “Entry prohibited for donation thieves” were put up, Singh alleged that people associated with the VHP and RSS betrayed the faith of millions of devotees by misappropriating donations and offerings. He said he would also move court seeking a refund of the donations he made for the Ram temple so that the money could instead be donated to the Ramalaya Trust.Singh said only those who have faith in Lord Ram and contributed towards the construction of the Ram temple would be invited to join the march. He maintained that the yatra would have no political affiliation and would not be used for political campaigning. He further alleged irregularities related to donations and land in both the Ram Janmabhoomi and Ujjain temple trusts, claiming that VIP darshan was being monetised at a property near the Mahakaleshwar temple. He said the march from Ujjain to Ayodhya would seek ‘accountability’ over the alleged misuse of devotees’ contributions.
