Dinjith Ayyathan won the award for best director and Bahul Ramesh for the best screenwriter for the film Eko in the 35th P. Padmarajan Awards which were announced here on Friday (May 22, 2026). The awards were instituted by the P. Padmarajan Trust in memory of the writer-filmmaker. Dinjith will receive ₹25,000, a plaque and a certificate of merit, whereas Bahul will get ₹15,000, plaque and certificate.
Chandramathi, author of the novel Ozhukatha Oru Puzha, was chosen for the award for the best novelist. Shanoj R. Chandran, author of the short story Arappathiri, has been selected as the best short story writer. They will receive ₹20,000 and ₹15,000 respectively, along with a plaque and a certificate of merit.
Mithun Krishna, author of Aparasamudra, won the Vismayasmax Young Talent Award presented to the first major literary work of a young writer.
The film jury was headed by writer-director Madhupal with critic Sulochana Rammohan and film critic Vijayakrishnan as members whereas the literary Jury was chaired by writer S. Hareesh with writers Rahul Radhakrishnan and Pradeep Panangad as members.
