The Water Resources department is planning to source drinking water for the State capital from the Neyyar reservoir once again as the storage in the Peppara reservoir is sufficient only for 26 more days.
After a high-level meeting on Wednesday held to review the water position in reservoirs across Kerala, Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine said steps will be taken to draw water from Neyyar to Aruvikkara for uninterrupted supply. The government has prepared an estimate of ₹73 lakh for this work which is being planned as a precautionary measure, Mr. Augustine said.
