Director of Indian Museum given additional charge as secretary & curator of Victoria Memorial

Sayan Bhattacharya, director of the Indian Museum, has been appointed as the additional secretary and curator of the Victoria Memorial. Bhattacharya, who has been leading the Indian Museum — the country’s oldest and one of its most significant museums — will now take on the additional responsibility at Victoria Memorial, one of Kolkata’s most iconic heritage institutions.

His appointment comes at a time when both institutions continue to focus on strengthening public engagement, exhibitions and heritage preservation. With experience in museum administration and cultural programming, Bhattacharya is expected to contribute to the curatorial and institutional initiatives at Victoria Memorial while continuing to oversee the functioning of the Indian Museum.
