Director Prem files complaint against producer Kanakapura Srinivas over derogatory remarks at film event

Director Prem has filed a complaint against producer Kanakapura Srinivas at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and police. Prem alleges Srinivas made derogatory remarks about him, actor Darshan, director AP Arjun, and the late Puneeth Rajkumar. The producer also reportedly made disrespectful comments about mothers.

Director Prem has lodged a complaint against senior producer Kanakapura Srinivas at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. He alleged that the producer made some derogatory comments at a film event.

Additionally, he also shared that he made hurtful comments about director AP Arjun, actor Darshan, other producers, and even late actor Puneeth Rajkumar, fondly known as Appu.

Prem recounts his association with the producer

According to a report by India Today, Prem shared his association with Kanakapura Srinivas. He said that the producer approached him in 2004 through KP Sreekanth. He also mentioned that he was given Rs 9 lakh to direct a film. He shared that he opened an office, hired a team and worked on the script.He alleged that he tried many times to contact the producer, but there was no reply. Nearly one year of hard work went to waste. Prem said no money was given for office rent or team salary. He added that he spent a few lakhs from his own pocket and also said no to other film offers because of this project.

Prem questions producer’s credibility

Speaking to the media, Prem said he was forced to react because of the highly derogatory comments. He said the producer spoke badly about mothers.

Prem clearly said, “He has spoken disrespectfully about several people, including AP Arjun, Appu (Puneeth Rajkumar), Darshan and me.” He also said, “To question my capability, he must first have the credibility himself. One must speak responsibly.” Prem said he believes in solving issues through proper platforms like the Film Chamber.

Complaint filed with police and film chamber

Prem confirmed that he had already gone to the police before submitting the complaint to the Film Chamber. He met Film Chamber president Jayamala and explained everything in detail. The issue is now being looked at by both the police and the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. Meanwhile, Kanakapura Srinivas released a counterstatement. He challenged Prem to meet him directly and said he is ready to face him. The controversy started after Srinivas allegedly abused many Kannada film personalities on stage at a film event.
