X updated its Creator Revenue Sharing rules to curb misleading AI-generated content. Users posting AI videos of armed conflicts without clear indication face a 90-day suspension.

The platform will flag violations through Community Notes or metadata and other signals from generative AI tools.
Elon Musk-owned X, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday announced a major revision to its Creator Revenue Sharing rules aimed at protecting authenticity and preventing misleading content.
The update comes amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East, where thousands of posts and videos on X—some garnering millions of views—have promoted misleading claims following the US and Israeli military strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory attacks in the Gulf states.
Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, said the changes are intended to “maintain authenticity of content on Timeline and prevent manipulation of the program."
She added that during times of war, it is critical for users to have access to reliable information. “During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground. With today’s AI technologies, it is trivial to create content that can mislead people," Bier wrote.

Under the new policy, any user posting AI-generated videos of armed conflicts without clearly disclosing that they were created using AI will be suspended from revenue sharing for 90 days.
Repeat violations will result in permanent removal from the programme. The platform will flag violations through Community Notes or metadata and other signals from generative AI tools.
“We will continue to refine our policies and product to ensure X can be trusted during these critical moments," Bier added.
