Famed filmmaker Steven Spielberg is returning to the sci-fi genre after taking a different direction with his previous two films! As the trailer for ‘Disclosure Day’ drops, fans have been left wondering about what the movie will entail.
Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’ trailer release
Recently, the first teaser trailer for ‘Disclosure Day’ was shared online, buzzing up excitement and anticipation over the director’s first project since 2022. Led by Emily Blunt from ‘A Quiet Place’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, as well as Josh O’Connor from ‘Challengers’ and ‘The History of Sound’, the trailer promises a big dose of entertainment. What makes it even more special is the fact that this also counts as Spielberg’s return to the UFO genre, which was actually introduced by him into the film industry.
The trailer has O’Connor’s character saying, “People have a right to know the truth; it belongs to 7 billion people,” while a nun continues saying, “Why would [God] make such a vast universe, but save it only for us?” The clip does not give too much away, all the while exploring themes of mind control, alien life forms, crop circles, and mysterious languages, leaving fans of the filmmaker yearning for more.Watch the trailer now:
Most of the details about the project have been kept under wraps to keep the suspense going; however, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film was shot in New Jersey. Other than Blunt and O’Connor, the film also stars Colin Firth (who was also in the ‘Independence Day’ franchise with director Roland Emmerich), Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Michael Gaston, along with many others.

Other than ‘Disclosure Day’ being his first film since his release in 2022, this is also his first sci-fi project in years. His last two films, ‘The Fabelmans’ and ‘West Side Story’ were both more in the drama and romantic genre. His last film in this genre was ‘Ready Player One’, which was released in 2018.While it has not been directly shown in the trailer, it is being speculated that the film, since dealing with extraterrestrial life, will have UFOs, which is another aspect that Spielberg has been credited with introducing to cinema. His most popular films in the genre include ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’, ‘E.T. The Extra Terrestrial’, and ‘War of the Worlds.’The film has been set for release on June 12, 2026.
