Patna: District magistrate Thiyagarajan S M on Sunday inspected Gandhi Maidan to review administrative and security arrangements for Eid. The district administration announced that the iconic ground will remain closed to the general public from March 17 till a day before Eid to facilitate preparations for both Eid prayers and the upcoming Bihar Diwas celebrations.Devotees will be allowed to enter Gandhi Maidan through gate numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, while vehicular entry will be restricted to gates 5, 7 and 10. Security arrangements include surveillance through 128 CCTV cameras—49 along the perimeter and 79 within the premises—linked to the Integrated Command and Control Centre.A temporary police station will be set up at the venue for the duration of the event. Adequate lighting will be ensured through 15 high-mast lights and 229 pole lights, with technical teams deployed at light towers for maintenance.
The inspection was attended by the municipal commissioner, the city superintendent of police and members of the Namaz-e-Idain committee to coordinate crowd management and infrastructure planning. The building construction department has been tasked with barricading and levelling the ground, while the public health engineering department (PHED) will arrange water tankers and water ATMs. The civil surgeon will deploy ambulances equipped with medical staff and life-saving drugs, and the district fire officer will station fire tenders at the venue.
