Lewis Hamilton might have disappointed fans as he finished sixth in the race on Sunday at the Canadian Grand Prix, but many were left shocked as it was later revealed that his Ferrari struck a groundhog while he was racing.

Lewis Hamilton seemed devastated as he broke silence about hitting a groundhog but fans are brutally trolling him
Recently, Lewis Hamilton spoke about the accident to Sky Sports and said, “I was holding on up until the damage, I was kind of holding on to Oscar Piastri I think.”Lewis Hamilton added, “I was feeling optimistic and then I didn’t see it happen but obviously I heard I hit a groundhog, so that’s devastating.
I love animals so I’m so sad about it. That’s horrible. It’s never nice to see that – I just hope it didn’t suffer.”Even though Lewis Hamilton was apologetic about the accident, fans have not stopped trolling him.
A fan took to X and wrote, “First the rabbit at Le Mans, now a groundhog in Montreal. Did the commentators give the groundhog a moment of silence? Doubt”, while another fan joked, “That's not very vegan of Hamilton”.
A third fan wrote, “And he says he loves animals. What a hypocrite”, while another fan posted, “Somebody please tell me why Sir Lewis Hamilton is at the awful team. What a waste.”A fifth fan joked, “always the vegans”.
While Lewis Hamilton has not addressed the criticism he has received for hitting the groundhog, he has spoken about why he believes he finished sixth in the race on Sunday.Lewis Hamilton said, “Then, we had a brake issue halfway through as well.
I’m grateful that I could just finish…I think if everything was perfect, if we had done everything right, if we didn’t have any problems, maybe it would have been fourth.”At this point, apart from his shocking accident on Sunday, Lewis Hamilton’s performance has been suffering ever since he joined Ferrari. Shockingly, his former team, Mercedes has been performing pretty well and finished 1-3 in the Canadian Grand Prix.
