Dramatic Chase Unfolds In Delhi Society As Thief Abandons Bike, Flees After Guards Stop Him

Security guards at Delhi's Press Enclave Society identified and chased a thief stealing inverters. Guards Pravakar and Pratik Tamang thwarted the theft. Investigation continues.

A routine security check at Delhi’s Press Enclave Society took an unexpected turn after security guards identified and chased a thief responsible for stealing inverters from the residential colony.

As reported by NDTV, the security guards stopped a bike-borne man at around 3:27 pm for a standard verification. After seeing the man, guard Pravakar Tamang suspected him to be the same man who was allegedly involved in two previous inverter thefts from the society. 

Pravakar Tamang, who has been a security guard at the society for the past three years said, “I had a strong feeling I had seen him before in CCTV footage from a past inverter theft in the colony, but I wasn’t completely sure". After seeing the individual, Tamang asked him where he was headed. “He mentioned an address that doesn’t exist here and claimed he had visited the same house just two or three days ago, that’s when I knew something was off," he added.

In the video footage obtained by NDTV from the Press Enclave security head, it can be seen that Pravakar and Pratik Tamang, another guard who was stationed nearby, attempted to get ahold of the man.

As Tamang attempted to apprehend the thief, a society vehicle approached, and the guards briefly opened the barricade, allowing it to pass. Sensing an opportunity, the man attempted to flee. Acting swiftly, Tamang and Pratik both tried to hold him back but before he escaped abandoning the stolen inverter and fleeing on foot.

Guards Tamang and Pratik Tamang both come from Darjeeling (Mirik), West Bengal and work for IPRA Security Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Press Enclave residents have praised them for their alertness.

Authorities have been notified and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
