DSPs son dies in tragic road accident near Bhawanigarh and one injured

SANGRUR: In a tragic road accident on Saturday, Ekamveer Singh, the 22-year-old son of DSP Satnam Singh of Patiala Police, died when the car he was in lost control and crashed on the NH-07 flyover near Fagguwala Kainchi, Bhawanigarh, Sangrur district.

Another occupant, Harjot Singh, aged 23, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Patiala. Harjot, son of Sub Inspector Rajinderpal Singh stationed in Mohali, is out of danger, said police.The accident happened around 1:34 am when the Verna car, driven by Harjot Singh, lost control on the flyover and crashed. Both young men were trapped inside the vehicle.Special Security Force (SSF) personnel arrived at the scene minutes after being alerted by Control Room 112.

With help from local residents, both individuals were freed from the vehicle and taken to Civil Hospital, Bhawanigarh. Doctors declared Ekamveer Singh dead upon arrival, while Harjot Singh was stabilised and later referred to Patiala for further treatment.Ekamveer Singh was a resident of Patiala and the only son of DSP Satnam Singh.SSF officials expressed concerns about non-functional streetlights in the area, claiming that repeated complaints to relevant departments have not been addressed, posing a serious risk to commuters.

Investigating officer Malwinder Singh at Bhawanigarh police station said, "Both Harjot Singh (23), of Patiala and Ekamveer, 22, were returning from a marriage when the incident took place. While Ekamveer was declared brought dead upon reaching the hospital, Harjot was referred for higher institute following which he is currently undergoing treatment at private hospital in Patiala and is currently out of danger.
