Duo who ransacked house, fired gunshots in Ambedkar Nagar held

Ludhiana: The Model Town police have arrested two prime suspects who, along with nearly 30 accomplices, allegedly barged into a house in Dr Ambedkar Nagar, fired gunshots, and vandalised property over an old rivalry on June 16.

The arrested men, identified as Madhav Chaudhary and Sahil, alias Pagal, are both local residents with extensive criminal records involving violent clashes and assaults.The arrests follow a first information report (FIR) registered on the complaint of local resident Chetna. The police have booked a total of 16 named suspects, including Madhav’s brother Vivek Chaudhary, Mukesh Chaudhary, Gaurav, Sumit, Ajay, Shankar, Lucky, Billa, Krishna, Shubham, Sham, Robin, Sam, and Ajay alias Chini, alongside 15-20 unidentified aides.According to the complainant, the attackers targeted her family due to an ongoing dispute with her brother-in-law. The gang carried out two coordinated strikes on the locality within a single day.The first assault occurred at 3.30 am, when the armed mob targeted Chetna’s parental home. Finding the main gate bolted from inside, the attackers repeatedly struck it with sharp-edged weapons, smashed two-wheelers parked in the street to trigger widespread panic, and fled.

The gang returned at 5.30 pm to storm Chetna’s in-laws’ residence, where she was present with her mother-in-law and her five-month-old infant.Chetna said, “The group of accused barged into our house and vandalised everything, from almirah to air conditioner, furniture, other appliances and vehicles. The accused also fired multiple gunshots, before fleeing.”Inspector Gurshinder Kaur, SHO at Model Town Police Station, confirmed that the two main leaders are in custody. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—including house-trespass, criminal intimidation, and rioting—along with sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act.
