Eagle Force team seized 500 kg ganja in Odisha

Hyderabad: Eagle Force sleuths have intercepted a vehicle transporting ganja in Odisha and seized 500 kilos of contraband worth Rs 2.5 crore. The seized contraband was handed over to the Odisha police for further probe.In an inter-state operation to nab the offenders at the source areas from where ganja is being supplied to Telangana, an Eagle Force patrolling team led by SI K Ravi Prasad tailed a vehicle from Balimela to Jeypore for almost 80km during the early hours of Thursday.“After a daring chase in the deep jungle, our team managed to stop the vehicle. But taking advantage of the forest, hilly terrain and poor visibility, the accused driver of the vehicle managed to escape,” said an Eagle Force official.Eagle Force sleuths seized 115 packets of ganja weighing 500 kilos from the vehicle. The seized contraband was handed over to the Koraput police in Odisha, and a case was registered under the NDPS Act.According to police, vehicle registration records show the vehicle is registered in the name of Amir Ali Khan, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in Nabarangapur district of Odisha.In a similar operation in 2024, Eagle Force tracked ganja peddlers as far as Ranchi and seized 500 kilos of ganja.

That case was handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau, or NCB.Eagle Force sleuths have appealed to the public to report drug-related concerns and suspicious activities at their toll-free number, 1908; WhatsApp, 87126 71111; and email, [email protected]. “All information shared will be kept strictly confidential, and credible informants will be suitably rewarded,” Eagle Force said in an official statement.
