Eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations gained momentum in Srikakulam after A.P. Pollution Control Board distributed over 4,000 clay idols, cloth bags and books to devotees. The Board Executive Engineer Balaga Karunasri said that the response from all sections was good for the initiative by the department. The people were asked to register their names through a special QR code. She said that the aim of the initiative was to encourage the people about Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations without causing harm to the nature.

Meanwhile, Sri Vijaya Ganapathi temple priests Penta Sridhar Sarma, Surya Nagesh Sarma, Tenneti Vikram Sarma said that all arrangements were made for the nine day festival which would begin on August 27. They formally released the brochure and urged to people not to buy idols made up with chemicals and Plaster of Paris (POP). The temple trustee Ippili Hari said that clay idols would be distributed at the temple premises on Tuesday. Sampath Vinayaka temple trustee Konda Rambabu said that the clay idols would be given to the devotees at Manguvarithota in Srikakulam on Tuesday morning.
