The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) raided properties in Chitradurga’s Challakere, linked to Congress MLA K. C. Veerendra and his associates, again on September 6. This is the third round of raids against the MLA who was arrested by the ED earlier.

The raid was part of the ongoing investigation into a case against Veerendra and others, related to cheating the public in illegal online betting. The agency had earlier raided Veerendra’s properties twice.

During the searches, the ED seized 24-carat gold bullion weighing 21.43 kg, 11 units of gold-coated silver bars weighing 10.985 kg, and gold jewellery, around 1 kg, valued at approximately ₹24 crore.

“After considering this seizure, the cumulative seizure of Proceeds of Crime (POC) in this case crossed ₹100 crore as of the date. The searches and tracing of POC in this case have been undertaken during the custody of the prime accused Veerendra,” ED said in a statement.
