Education Budget 2026: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is currently presenting the Union Budget 2026, has announced new Ayurveda and design institutes.

Education Budget 2026: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced plans to establish three new Ayurveda institutes and one new design institute in the Union Budget 2026-27. In addition, three AIIMS will be established according to the new budget allocations.
The government further aims to support professional bodies like ICAI, ICSI, and ICMAI in developing short-term modular courses and practical tools to cultivate corporate mitras in tier 2 and 3 cities.
The budget also proposes the creation of medical hubs across various states.
For the 2025-26 budget, a record allocation of Rs 1,28,650.05 crore was made for the education sector. The Department of School Education and Literacy received Rs 78,572.10 crore, which is 61% of the education budget, aimed at enhancing school education and improving the quality of schooling nationwide. The Department of Higher Education was allocated Rs 50,077.95 crore, accounting for 39% of the total education budget, to support the growth and expansion of higher education institutions in India.
