Ranchi: Traffic movement would be restricted at several places in Ranchi on Saturday in view of the large gatherings at religious places during Eid and the processions that would be taken out on the occasion of Sarhul.The traffic wing issued a notice on Thursday stating that for Eid festivities, the Harmu by-pass road would be closed from Kishoreganj Chowk to Ratu Road Chowk from 6 am till the end of namaaz.It further stated that the road between Ambedkar Chowk and Rajendra Chowk, Ratan PP and Gupta Bhandar on the main road, Plaza Chowk and Lalpur Chowk, and Saheed Chowk and Gandhi Chowk in Upper Bazaar would be closed.Traffic police said vehicles coming from Doranda would turn from Sujata Chowk and move via the Club Road and Munda Chowk towards their destinations.
Vehicles going from Sujata Chowk towards Doranda would move via Big Bazaar and Kadru bridge towards their destinations.For Sarhul, entry of heavy vehicles would be prohibited in the city from 6 am on Saturday till 1:30 am. Traffic police stated that movement of common vehicles would be barred on the roads from SSP residence to Saheed Chowk, Zakir Hussain Park to Radium Road, old municipal corporation office to commissioner's office, and from Upper Bazaar towards Saheed Chowk.
Entry to the main road from various connecting roads, including Purulia Road, Vishnu Cinema Marg, Church Road, and from PP Compound, would be prohibited. The flyover from Mecon Chowk to Munda Chowk would also be closed.The vehicles coming from Circular Road can move up to Jail More, from where they would be diverted to other routes.Traffic SP Rakesh Singh said, “The traffic movement would be changed for Sarhul processions from around 12 noon. Slides would be placed on the roads to regulate the traffic till the festivities are over. People should avoid moving out in vehicles during the period when the restrictions are in force.”
