Kakinada Superintendent of Police G. Bindu Madhav on Tuesday said that eight cases have been registered against individuals for the illegal storage of urea fertilizer. The cases have been registered based on the raids conducted by the vigilance authorities.
Mr. Bindu Madhav said that a token system is being implemented at the Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to ensure every eligible farmer receives the appropriate quantity of urea. “Farmers are welcomed to lodge complaints against those who store urea and disrupt the supply system”, said Mr. Bindu Madhav.
East Godavari district, District Collector P. Prasanthi clarified that there was no shortage of urea in the district. Ms. Prasanthi said: “Over 23,000 metric tonnes of urea has been supplied, and over 2,600 metric tonnes is currently available across the district as of Tuesday.”
