Elderly couple killed in a freak accident after electric pole gets uprooted and falls on them

Tirupati: An elderly couple sleeping outside their home, were crushed to death, when an electric pole came crashing on them after being uprooted by a speeding truck. This bizarre accident was reported at Akula Veedhi in Mydukur town at Kadapa district in the early hours on Wednesday.According to Mydukur police, the deceased were identified as P Subbarayudu (80) and his wife Obulamma (70). Police investigation revealed that a truck overloaded with paddy husk got in contact with low lying electric cables and when the truck moved forward, the electric pole itself got uprooted and crashed on the couple, who were sleeping outside their house.Both Subbarayudu and Obulamma died on the spot. Mydukur police and officials from the electricity dept rushed to the spot and inspected the accident spot. Mydukur police registered a case and shifted the bodies of the deceased for postmortem.
