Elderly Farmer Dies in Tractor Accident Near Hazaribag Railway Overbridge

Hazaribag: An elderly farmer, who was on his way to Hazaribag town to sell vegetables, died after his bike was rammed by a speeding tractor on Friday. The incident took place near the Luta Railway Overbridge under Katkamdag police station limits.

The victim was identified as Vasudev Mahto (65) of Pakrar village under Katkamdag block. The driver of the tractor fled the spot. Locals soon gathered and blocked the road seeking the driver’s arrest and compensation for Vasudev’s family. Pramod Kumar Rai, the officer-in-charge of Katkamdag police station, reached the spot after the incident. The gathering dispersed after assurances from govt officials. Rai said, “We have seized the tractor, and a search is on to trace the driver.”
