Elderly woman cheated of jewellery worth Rs1.5L

The 64-year-old woman was give water laced with sedatives after which the suspects allegedly fled with her jewellery

Nashik: Two suspects duped a 64-year-old woman of gold jewellery worth Rs1.6 lakh after giving her water laced with sedatives near the Nashik civil hospital on Wednesday.The elderly victim registered a complaint against the two unidentified women with the Sarkarwada police station on Thursday.As per her complaint, she is a resident of Chunchale and had gone to the hospital to get medication for her aching legs.Once done, she came out of the hospital around noon where she met two unidentified women outside the gate of the premises.One of the suspects seemed about 50 years old , while the other around 60, she said in her complaint.They told her that were new in the city and were looking for a jewelry store. Oblivious to their intention she acompanied them in an autorickshaw and showed them a few such stores around.

They returned again to drop her outside the hospital.Then, apparently, they sat her down by the side of the road and gave her water to drink. She fainted after consuming the water and upon waking up found her gold chain worth Rs1 lakh and earrings worth Rs50,000 missing. The two women had fled the scne by then.The police are investigating the case.The Sarkarwada police said they would check the CCTV footage around the civil hospital to identify suspects and also the autorickshaw in which she was made to sit.
