Elderly woman injured as rod falls from flyover

Hubballi: An elderly woman was injured when an iron rod fell on her from an under-construction flyover at Hosur Circle here on Friday. The injured woman is Yashodha Jahdav, 65, a resident of Tevaramellahalli village in Shiggaon taluk, Haveri district.

When Yashodha was walking on a footpath near Pandurangi building, an iron rod fell on her head, according to witnesses. “She was rushed to KMC-RI hospital. Workers at the site fled the scene after the incident,” they added. Vidyanagar police visited the hospital and registered a case. They said the woman was going to her daughter’s house in Navanagar here.
