Poojappura police probe theft of two elephant tusks worth over Rs 2 crore from Pangode Military Camp in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Poojappura police have registered a theft case after two elephant tusks, estimated to be worth over Rs 2 crore, were reported missing from the high-security Pangode Military Camp in the Kerala capital.

According to the complaint, the tusks were allegedly stolen from within the camp premises. A case has been filed under Sections 331(4) and 305(e) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police suspect the involvement of a person who had entered the camp premises to organise a DJ party. However, officials said details surrounding the theft remain unclear.

“We currently don’t have any information about the theft. We are gathering the information," the Defence PRO told Onmanorama.

A detailed investigation has been launched to determine how the tusks went missing from the tightly secured defence establishment.

Pangode Military Camp, located in Thirumala in Thiruvananthapuram, functions under the Southern Command of the Indian Army. The base conducts key training activities and hosts joint military exercises. Known for its strict access controls, the camp is considered one of Kerala’s major defence installations.
