As the Samriddhi Yatra unfolded, villagers from Bihar united in a chorus of heartfelt pleas, urging Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to remain in their midst and not venture to Delhi. With heartfelt slogans and placards raised high, the crowds expressed a collective worry, with many feeling a sense of loss at the mere thought of his departure.
Patna: Ahead of CM Nitish Kumar’s likely shift to Delhi after his nomination to the Rajya Sabha, the atmosphere in Bihar turned highly emotional with villagers at his rallies holding placards carrying heartfelt messages and making emotional appeals to him not to leave the state.
Such scenes were frequently witnessed during his Samriddhi Yatra, which concluded on Thursday. The situation in Nalanda, Nitish’s home district, was no different when his supporters repeatedly interrupted the programme as the CM arrived there on Thursday. A group of people stood up from their seats and began appealing to Nitish not to quit the Bihar throne.“We won’t allow him to go to Delhi at any cost,” an elderly villager told the reporters during the Nalanda yatra.
“Bihar mein hi rahna hai,” he added. A woman supporter said they would become “orphan” if Nitish leaves Bihar, adding, “Nitish should only look after Bihar... Unka rahna jaroori hai.”An even more emotional scene was witnessed during his yatra in Ara, where a man stood in the audience gallery holding a placard. The message on the placard read, “Adarniya Nitish Kumar, kripya mukhya mantri pad na chhoden... Apki Bihar ko awashyakyta hai (Respected Nitish Kumar, please don’t quit the CM post.
Bihar urgently needs you).” The CM had visited Ara on Wednesday. Apparently moved by the gesture, the CM, who was seated on the dais, asked a member of his security to go to the villager and bring the placard, which he promptly did.In another video that went viral, an elderly man was heard repeatedly shouting throughout the CM’s speech at the Ara rally, “Please listen to me, Nitish ji... why are you going to Delhi and abandoning us in Bihar...
please answer this question of your supporters. Please don't abandon us... Bihar mat chhodin (please don’t leave Bihar).”“It is not for nothing that the chief minister has such a warm rapport with the public. His development work itself speaks,” said a local resident, observing the admiration and affection people displayed towards the CM.(With inputs from Praveen in Ara)
