UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday heard complaints from residents of multiple districts at the Janata Darshan programme in Lucknow after which a directive was passed for officials to resolve all grievances within set timeframes, his office said.

Amongst the complaints received was one filed by an elderly man from Mathura, who told the Chief Minister that a village pathway had been encroached upon and that earlier complaints at the local level had produced no action.

The Chief Minister directed the District Magistrate to personally visit the site. “If encroachment is found, it should be removed immediately and action should be taken against the guilty," he said.

“Encroachment will not be tolerated under any circumstances," Adityanath said, directing the administration, police, municipal corporation, development authorities, and other responsible institutions to monitor such matters regularly.

Applications related to education, healthcare, financial assistance, electricity, police, and revenue matters were also received during the session. The Chief Minister accepted all applications and heard each grievance.

“The government stands with all 25 crore residents of the state under every circumstance," Adityanath said. “All problems will be resolved and no one needs to worry."

Before hearing complaints, the Chief Minister asked after the well-being of those who had travelled from different districts in intense summer heat. He advised elderly persons, women, and children to avoid stepping out during afternoon hours unless absolutely necessary, and asked all attendees to maintain a balanced diet.

The Janata Darshan is a scheduled public grievance programme where residents can meet the Chief Minister directly. Monday’s session drew complainants from across the state.
