Erin Andrews shares her newest offseason fixation with surprising enthusiasm (Imagn Images)
Erin Andrews is not talking about football right now. The longtime NFL sideline reporter has a different obsession, and it has nothing to do with depth charts or preseason storylines. In the quiet stretch between Super Bowl confetti and training camp whistles, Andrews has found herself hooked on a television drama that has quietly taken over her evenings and, by the sound of it, her wardrobe.During the NFL grind from August through January, Andrews lives out of suitcases and stadium tunnels for FOX. Spring and summer, though, offer rare breathing room. This year, she has filled that space with “Love Story,” the latest series from Ryan Murphy for FX and Hulu. The show revisits the romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, tracing their relationship up to their tragic deaths in the late 1990s.
For Andrews, it has become more than background noise.
Erin Andrews admits she is fully obsessed this offseason and fans are loving her relatable honesty
The shift happened, as many good obsessions do, because of a friend. Andrews credits fellow FOX broadcaster Charissa Thompson for pulling her into the Kennedy drama. Once she started watching, there was no easing in.“You, my friend, have gotten me quite obsessed with Love Story,” she said.
That obsession quickly spilled beyond the screen. Andrews admitted she has begun channeling Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s understated style in her own closet.
“Anything I’m wearing or doing right now, side part is in, I tried to air dry my hair the other day to look like hers. I was going to take a picture and show you Instagram vs. Reality. The outfits, all I want to do is wear a pair of cigarette black pants, a black sweater, loafers and call it a day.
”It is easy to picture the scene. A veteran reporter who usually dresses for brisk fall Sundays now experimenting with minimalist New York chic in the middle of summer.
Even at home, the shift has not gone unnoticed.“What are you wearing?” her former NHL player husband, Jarret Stoll, said in response to one of her outfits. There is something refreshing about Andrews leaning into a pop culture phase with the same enthusiasm she brings to a playoff sideline. The show has become a major hit for Hulu, and she is clearly part of that wave. For now, while the league sleeps and stadium lights stay dark, Andrews is content trading play sheets for period fashion and political royalty.
