Etah man sexually abuses 12yo, uploads content; held

Agra: A 35-year-old man was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, recording the act and uploading the video online, police said on Wednesday, adding that two mobile phones seized from the accused contained over 1,000 videos and photographs of child porn and other obscene material.Etah SP (crime) Yogendra Singh said Mudit Gupta, an anklet seller from Jalesar, was traced after nine cyber tipline reports related to child sexual exploitation and abuse material were received through the Union home ministry’s National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP).“The accused sexually assaulted a minor girl, recorded a video and uploaded it. After we received the inputs, a team was formed to investigate the matter.

During the probe, the accused was traced to Jalesar in Etah. After collecting digital and physical evidence, he was apprehended and questioned. He confessed to the crime,” Singh said.Police said the two mobile phones seized from Gupta would be sent for forensic examination. Gupta used a virtual private network (VPN) to download and access such material through social media platforms, edit the content and store it on his devices.

An FIR has been registered at the Cyber Crime police station under BNS section 65(2) (rape committed against child under 12), provisions of the Pocso Act and the IT Act. Police said technical analysis of IMEI numbers, login email IDs, and other digital evidence helped identify the accused.
