Legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia has joined the Indian Singers' and Musicians' Rights Association (ISAMRA). "Music is a divine gift that belongs to humanity, but every artist deserves the dignity, respect and rightful recognition for a lifetime devoted to this sacred art.
I am delighted to associate with ISAMRA in its mission to protect the rights and interests of musicians and performers across India. When artists are respected, culture flourishes,” he said, lending his support to the organisation's efforts to safeguard the rights and remuneration of singers and musicians. Singer Sanjay Tandon, Founder and Managing Director of ISAMRA added, "This is one of the proudest moments in our journey at ISAMRA- welcoming Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia Ji into this family.
His music has inspired generations and transcends boundaries of language, geography and time. His association reinforces our commitment to ensuring that every performer, whether a singer or musician, receives the recognition, dignity and rightful remuneration they deserve.
When legends stand with a movement, they inspire an entire generation of artists to believe that their creativity has value and that their rights matter."
ISAMRA has been working towards strengthening performers' rights in India by advocating fair royalties and greater recognition for singers and musicians. Chaurasia's association with the organisation is expected to further amplify its efforts to create awareness about artists' rights and equitable remuneration.
