Ex-Arsenal Player Thomas Partey Charged With Rape And Assault

Ex-Arsenal and Ghana player Thomas Partey faces five rape charges and one sexual assault charge involving three women. He denies all charges and will appear in court on August 5.

Former Arsenal and Ghana international Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, UK police announced on Friday.

The charges involve allegations from three women and stem from incidents said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the charges follow a lengthy investigation that began in February 2022, triggered by the first of the complaints.

“These charges are the result of an investigation by detectives which commenced in February 2022," police said in an official statement.

Partey Denies All Charges

Partey’s legal team has strongly denied the accusations. In a statement issued on his behalf, lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said:

“He denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.

“Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further."

Court Appearance Scheduled

Partey, 32, was charged just four days after departing Arsenal. He is due to appear at a central London court on August 5.

The Metropolitan Police clarified that the five rape charges involve two of the alleged victims, while the sexual assault charge pertains to a third woman.
