Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Telangana chief minister, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), is set to appear before the PC Ghosh Commission in connection with alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.
The judicial commission, which has been probing the multi-crore project for nearly a year, is examining both financial and technical lapses related to its construction.
A massive gathering of BRS leaders and supporters was seen outside the party headquarters in Hyderabad ahead of KCR’s scheduled appearance. Heavy police forces were deployed in the area to manage the crowd and maintain law and order, as visuals showed party workers arriving in large numbers to show support for their leader.
The irrigation project, built during the previous BRS regime at a cost of over Rs 1 lakh crore, has come under scrutiny following structural issues, including the reported sinking of piers at the Medigadda barrage.
