Excavation machines seized in raid on laterite stone quarry

Ponda: Stone excavation machines, including a power tiller and a stone extractor, were seized by Ponda police in a raid on an illegal laterite stone quarry at Marad, Dharbandora, on Saturday.The police have deputed staff to protect the seized machines and the investigation is going on trace the person involved in the illegal stone extraction.Ponda police said they received information from the police control room that some illegal activities were going on in the area and when the police team raided the site, workers fled, leaving behind the machines.An offence has been filed against unidentified persons for illegal extraction of stones.
