Exclusive - Akanksha Puri recalls her struggling phase during the initial days of her acting career; says, “This industry tests your patience”

Akanksha Puri is all set to impress her fans with her new role of Geet in the OTT series Rose Garden. She has starred alongside TV fame Niyati Fatnani, and the two are playing sisters in the show. The actress got into an exclusive chat with TOI TV where she opened up about her new show, bond with co-stars, and much more.

Akanksha also recalled the ‘struggling phase’ before becoming an actor. The actress revealed how it was quite difficult for her to overcome her ‘self-doubt’ when she first entered the industry. She also shed light on the challenges a beginner actor has to face when they don’t have a ‘godfather’ in the industry. She shared, “One of the biggest challenges was overcoming my own self-doubt. This industry tests your patience and confidence every single day.

Initially, I used to take rejections personally, but over time, I realised that every ‘no’ is leading you to the right ‘yes’. Today, I look back and feel those challenges were blessings because they made me emotionally stronger and fearless.”The actress further shared, “You have to prove yourself with every project and performance. I feel proud that whatever love and respect I have earned is purely on my merit and hard work.

I always believed in staying grounded and letting my work speak. I am grateful to the audience for loving me for who I am and not just for the characters I play.”She further opened up about her character in the show and shared, “What drew me to Geet was her fearless honesty. She is bold, rebellious, unapologetic about her choices, yet extremely vulnerable when it comes to love and family. She doesn’t care about what society thinks, but deep down, she is seeking acceptance.”The actress also shared, “I found Geet’s journey fascinating because she is full of contrasts – she can fight the world yet breaks down alone. To interpret her depth, I tried to understand where her pain comes from, what her dreams are, and why she reacts so impulsively. I believe every action has an emotion behind it, and showing that honestly was my main aim.”
