Hastinapur Ke Veer, television’s latest mythological show, tells a powerful story of courage, discipline, and timeless values. Toral Rasputra marks her return to TV after two years with this show, where she will play the role of Kunti.
In an exclusive conversation with Times of India TV, Toral spoke about why she accepted the role of Kunti, her preparations for the character and more.Speaking about doing the show, Toral shared, "There was no reason for me to refuse this role. As an actor, opportunities like this come once in a lifetime—to play such unique characters on screen. We have all grown up watching these kinds of roles, but what makes this one special is its different perspective.
It doesn’t just focus on grand, larger-than-life storytelling, but also explores the emotions behind it, especially through a child’s point of view.
"Set against the grand backdrop of Hastinapur, the show tells a story of unity, dharma, and determination, showing that legends are not born but created through their actions. The actress found the character of Kunti fascinating and is excited to do the show. "It’s a beautiful character.
She is a mother who has taught strong values to her children and believes in teaching them consequences rather than just offering comfort.
Instead of protecting them from everything, she prepares them to face real-life situations. The depth and complexity of the character really excited me as an actor," she said.Toral further revealed that she is yet to start shooting for the show and is currently undergoing workshops for her role, "It all happened quite quickly, so I haven’t really had time to work on it properly yet.
We are starting workshops from today, and I’m actually heading to the office for that. Now I’ll sit with the script and understand everything in detail. As for the language and dialect, I’ve done mythological shows before, so it won’t be too difficult.
But yes, this is a different character, so there will definitely be new things to explore."

Are you excited to see Toral Rasputra back on television as Kunti?
She talked about taking breaks and maintaining a gap between her projects, saying it allows her to reconnect with herself, "Yes, it’s a conscious choice. I feel it’s important to take some time to come out of a character and reconnect with myself before taking on something new. I believe every actor should go through this process. I’m also quite selective with my work—I don’t take up projects just for the sake of it. For me, it’s about truly wanting to do something.
I try to give my all to every role and put my heart into each character as much as I can."
