Executive court session held in Hyderabad to address disputes between rowdy-sheeters and criminal gangs

Hyderabad Police Commissioner C. V. Anand, on Wednesday, (August 20) held an Executive Court session at the Commissionerate in Banjara Hills to address disputes between rowdy-sheeters and criminal gangs operating in the city.

The session focused on groups from the South, South East, and South West zones, with reports from police stations revealing involvement of these gangs in crimes such as mutual attacks, murders, and attempted murders.

A total of 101 members from 11 gangs across 10 police station limits were interrogated separately. Six gangs claimed to have resolved their differences amicably in the presence of elders and family members, while the others denied involvement in fresh crimes and assured the Commissioner that they would maintain peace, going forward.

Peace bond

Warning of strict legal action against those attempting to disturb public order, Mr. Anand said that preventive measures under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) would be invoked wherever necessary. This includes binding individuals by a peace bond for a fixed period if they are deemed likely to cause trouble.

The proceedings were adjourned for a later hearing. Special Branch DCP K. Apoorva Rao, along with officers from the 10 police stations concerned, were present at the session.
