Andhra Pradesh handloom products have a huge demand in the market and weavers in the State are experts in manufacturing silk garments with latest designs, said Kesineni Janaki Lakshmi, wife of Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, here on Saturday (August 30).

“As the weavers market their products directly, consumers get silk garments at reasonable prices,” Ms. Janaki Lakshmi said. She was inaugurating the Indian Silk Gallery Exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Handlooms and Textiles, at A Convention Centre near Benz Circle.

Ms. Janaki Lakshmi interacted with the weavers and traders, who came from Venkatagiri, Uppada, Gadwal, Kalamkari, Kancheepuram, Banaras and other places.

Exhibition organiser and Central Silk Board deputy director Y. Srinivas Rao said the exhibition would be open till September 2. “Silk garments manufactured at different places were displayed in the expo. Consumers can buy latest designs of garments for weddings and for Dasara and Deepavali festivals in the exhibition,” Mr. Srinivas Rao said.

Indian Silk Gallery Expo brand ambassador P. Deepika visited the stalls.
