The report submitted by Gandhians for revival of the Badanvalu Khadi Centre has also identified its tourism potential.

Stating that Badanvalu and Tagadur Khadi centres as well as other weaving and spinning centres in the area should be viewed as one cluster, the report said the entire cluster should be treated as a “Craft and Khadi tourism destination”.

“Add to it culture. Local folk performances, cuisine, lifestyle, theatre, music etc. Offer (visitors) live experience of spinning, Shramadaan, prayer meets, yoga, hands-on-training, field-visits and agriculture,” the report said pointing out that experiential visits can help generate supplementary income for the villagers.

While calling for promotion of homestays and rural tourism, the report also suggests construction of a Yatri Niwas near Badanvalu village. Encourage people from the city to visit through creatively designed programmes on environment, natural farming, local traditions, Gandhian legacy, etc., besides offering learning experiences and rural education tours for schoolchildren, the report said.
