Explosion at firecracker unit: PM announces ex gratia of ₹2 lakh each to families of deceased

While expressing sadness over the loss of lives in the massive firecracker explosion in Kakinada district through a social media post, Prime Minister Narendra on Saturday announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund to each one of the bereaved families, and ₹50,000 each to the injured.

He conveyed condolences to the families of those who died and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

In a separate message, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said he was saddened by the tragic incident, and that rescue and relief operations were underway. Necessary medical care was being provided to the injured, he added.
