Fire at parking garage of Nashville's main public library
A massive fire broke out in the parking garage of the main public library in Nashville, the capital of the US state of Tennessee, on Tuesday. Many residents reported that they heard several loud explosions and saw thick black smoke rising from the building.The incident was captured on video and widely shared across social media platforms.Videos showed huge plumes of black smoke coming out from the building as fire departments rushed to the scene. As of now, no casualties have been reported.
The parking garage is often used late at night by people visiting nearby bars.Eli Gilmore, a musician who lives in the apartment building next door, said he heard loud explosions starting around 1.15 am local time.“We were sitting around and I just looked over and saw black smoke coming out of the garage, and then we started hearing cars exploding, one after another. We saw a floor crack and fall in. Sparks were shooting across the street,” Gilmore said.H
e witnessed heavy smoke coming out of the building and emergency vehicles surrounding the area. According to him, at least 50 firefighters were at the scene, as reported by AFP.A user on social media posted, “Must have heard about 20 explosions. We woke up and thought Nashville was under attack. Looks like there were vehicles in the Nashville Library parking garage that caught fire and exploded. Nashville FD is on the scene.”
