Teaching faculty of government grant-in-aid degree colleges in Telangana have expressed concern over the prolonged delay in the release of salary arrears under the UGC Pay Revision Scales (PRS)-2016, despite the issuance of government orders and financial approval nearly six years ago.
S. Bixsham, professor of Political Science at Government Degree College, Chanchalguda, has brought the issue to the attention of authorities, alleging that eligible faculty members have not received the difference in salary arrears for the period from January 1, 2016, to June 30, 2019.
According to Mr. Bixsham, the State government had issued G.O.Ms. No. 19 on July 25, 2020, granting approval for the payment of the arrears with concurrence from the Finance Department. Subsequently, the Commissioner of Collegiate Education issued proceedings to facilitate the disbursement of the dues.
He termed the delay a violation of the lawful rights of teaching staff and urged the authorities to intervene and ensure immediate payment of the pending dues. He also called attention to what he described as bureaucratic indifference towards implementing government orders.
