On the second day of their hunger strike at Dharna Chowk in Vijayawada on Sunday (April 26, 2026), leaders of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Organisations (FAPTO) warned that they would intensify the agitation if the government failed to respond to their demands.”
FAPTO chairman L. Sai Srinivas and secretary general S. Chiranjeevi said the hunger strike was part of the second phase of the organisation’s protest programme. They demanded immediate constitution of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC), announcement of 30% interim relief, implementation of unified service rules, provision of compassionate appointments in local bodies, strengthening of high school plus institutions, release of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) installments, and settlement of surrender leave dues, among the 17 demands submitted to the government.
