Father 'kills' 6-year-old son in Patna hotel: Assault follows fight with wife; accused on the run

A six-year-old boy died after allegedly being assaulted by his father inside a hotel room near Patna railway station, police said on Sunday. The child, identified as Sunny, had travelled to Patna with his parents and was staying at a hotel near the station.

Police said a fight broke out between the couple on Saturday night.

According to the mother, her husband lost control during the argument, beat the boy severely, and then threw him on the floor. Police received a call on Sunday morning and reached the hotel. Sunny was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar-1, Abhinav, told reporters, “The father is on the run. We’ve registered a case and are investigating.” The accused has been identified as Prabhakar Mahoto. A search is on to trace him.
