Panaji: The directorate of food and drugs administration (FDA) directed a catering business at Parra, supplying tiffins to around 300 customers in Calangute, Baga, and Morjim, to stop operations due to unhygienic food conditions.
The food was seized and destroyed. The investigation was carried out under FDA director Shweta Desai.The FDA also issued deficiency notices to other food outlets during a surveillance drive in Salcete, Ponda, and Mormugao. It found flies and directed Bangalore Bakery retail at Ponda to conduct pest control and submit sanitary cards for all food handlers.The FDA also issued an inspection report to SLJ Bakery at Ponda, which was found operating in unsanitary and unhygienic conditions.
The bakery voluntarily closed down the business until it complied with the deficiencies stated in the report.The FDA also issued an inspection report to Bangalore Bakery at Sancoale and Dabolim after observing unhygienic conditions.Two outlets of Bangalore Bakery in Salcete were directed to stop operations.The FDAalso found expired food which it seized and destroyed.
