Germany can seal a knockout berth when they face Ivory Coast in Toronto. The Africans chase history, but Nagelsmann’s in-form side enter as favourites after a 7-1 win.

Germany have the chance to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout rounds when they face Ivory Coast in a crucial Group E showdown at Toronto’s BMO Field on Sunday (IST).
Julian Nagelsmann’s men could not have asked for a better start to their campaign, thrashing World Cup debutants Curacao 7-1 in their opening match. The emphatic victory placed Germany firmly atop the group and within touching distance of a first World Cup knockout appearance since lifting the trophy in 2014.
Ivory Coast, however, arrive with ambitions of their own.
The three-time African champions edged Ecuador 1-0 thanks to a dramatic late winner from Amad Diallo and now stand on the brink of making history. A positive result against Germany would significantly boost their hopes of reaching the World Cup knockout stages for the first time.

Germany have no major injury concerns heading into the clash. Nagelsmann is expected to stick with the side that dismantled Curacao, although Deniz Undav is pushing for a starting role after scoring and assisting off the bench in the opener.
