The United States made a statement in their opener, dismantling Paraguay 4-1 in one of their most convincing World Cup performances in years. Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun and company looked sharp, aggressive and confident under Mauricio Pochettino.

Australia arrive with momentum of their own after stunning Türkiye 2-0. The Socceroos defended brilliantly and showed clinical efficiency in transition.

A victory for either side would virtually guarantee qualification.
