Argentina will face Cape Verde in the Round of 32, while five-time champions Brazil are set to take on Japan. France, meanwhile, will lock horns with Sweden.

A total of 32 teams, comprising the top two teams from each of the 12 groups and the eight best third-placed teams, will compete in the Round of 32 of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which is set to begin on Sunday night (Monday IST).
The first knockout match of the tournament will see South Africa take on Canada at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, while the second fixture will feature five-time champions Brazil against Asian powerhouse Japan.
Several football giants, including Argentina, Spain, France, England, Portugal, the Netherlands and Germany, have also qualified for the Round of 32 after impressive performances during the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The winners of the 16 Round of 32 matches will advance to the Round of 16, with the eight victorious teams from that stage progressing to the quarter-finals.
The Round of 16 matches are scheduled to be played between July 4 and 8 (IST), while the quarter-finals will take place between July 10 and 12 (IST).
