The Fédération Internationale des Associations de Footballeurs Professionnels, the worldwide representative organisation for footballers, has told the All India Football Federation and the Football Sports Development Limited to confirm the Indian Super League schedule and help clubs meet footballers’ contractual obligations.

Indian football has been stuck in a deadlock over the past four months ever since the Supreme Court asked the federation not to sign any new documents before their constitution was fixed.

Club football is going through a crisis because of the uncertainty over the future of India’s top-tier ISL and the footballers’ body requested the stakeholders to put in a collective effort to tide over the crisis.

“FIFPRO Asia/Oceania is deeply concerned by the escalating uncertainty in Indian professional football and calls for a swift resolution," FIFPRO said in a statement.

After the July 11 decision of Indian Super League organisers FSDL to put the upcoming season on hold because of the uncertainty surrounding the renewal of the Master Rights Agreement signed with the federation in 2010, three clubs have either paused first-team operations or suspended salaries of first-team footballers and staff.

“The lack of clarity for players over the 2025/26 Indian Super League season, arising from a dispute over the league’s organisation and governance that has led to its indefinite suspension, is having a significant impact on their livelihoods, careers and wellbeing," the statement said.

“The players have been subjected to unilateral and unlawful suspensions of their employment contracts until further notice. These actions represent a direct breach of the players’ labour rights and are causing significant distress," the statement added.

The Indian Super League clubs last week told the federation that it should take the matter to the Supreme Court.
