Argentina defeated India 8-0 in the FIH Men's Pro League 2025-26, with Tomas Domene scoring four goals and Tomas Santiago denying multiple Indian attempts.

India faced a crushing 8-0 defeat against Argentina in the Rourkela leg of the FIH Men’s Pro League 2025-26 on Thursday at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium.

The goals for the visitors were scored by Tomas Domene (15’, 20’, 26’, 60’), Tomas Ruiz (14’), Lucio Mendez (22’), Ignacio Ibarra (25’), and Nicolas della Torre (30’).

How India Lost To Argentina?

The game began with India on the offensive, looking to take an early lead. Towards the end of the first quarter, the hosts had a chance to score with a penalty stroke, but Harmanpreet Singh’s attempt was stopped by the Argentine goalkeeper. Moments later, Tomas Ruiz (14’) fired a powerful shot to put Argentina ahead. Tomas Domene (15’) quickly doubled the lead, making it 2-0 by the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, India attempted to fight back, earning a couple of penalty corners thanks to efforts from Shilanand Lakra and Harmanpreet Singh, but they were unable to score. Argentina, however, maintained their momentum, with Domene (20’) scoring his second goal, followed by Lucio Mendez (22’) who added a fourth. Ignacio Ibarra (25’) netted a fifth goal from a tight angle, and Domene (26’) completed his hat-trick shortly after. Nicolas della Torre (30’) closed the half with Argentina leading 7-0.

Despite creating several opportunities in the second half, India could not find the back of the net, with notable attempts from Shilanand Lakra and Aditya Lalage being denied by Argentine goalkeeper Tomas Santiago. The third quarter ended goalless.

In the final quarter, India earned another penalty corner but failed to convert. Argentina added one more goal against the run of play, with Domene (60’) scoring his fourth, leading to an 8-0 victory for the visitors.
