Film crew member held with suspected MDMA in Kochi

A 34-year-old film production controller was arrested with 5.04 g of suspected MDMA from here, the Kochi City police said on Saturday (July 11, 2026).

Vishal Soman, a native of Thalayolaparambu in Kottayam, was nabbed by the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) from a hotel at Elamkulam, Kadavanthra, during a raid conducted as part of Operation Toofan, an anti-narcotic drive, the police said.

The police suspect Mr. Soman had close contacts with Kevin B. Mathew and Muhammed Sadique, two youths arrested earlier from the city for alleged drug peddling.

While Mr. Mathew, who allegedly supplied synthetic drugs for a white collar party busted by the police at Kadavanthra, was arrested by the DANSAF in April, Mr. Sadique, a gym trainer from Aluva, was taken into custody from Vazhakkala on Thursday night. The police had seized 183.55 g of suspected MDMA and 93.51 g of suspected ecstasy pills from Mr. Mathew and 387.26 g of suspected MDMA from Mr. Sadique.
