It was a special moment for the SmackDown Superstar that he won't soon forget.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Balor stated that with his interaction with Punk, he dismissed all the old horror stories related to CM Punk, "Punk is someone I never really interacted with much. I'd actually only met him one time in my life at Samoa Joe's wedding. This is back in 2002, 2003, maybe. Then he had left WWE when I had signed at NXT, and so we never really had any interactions.”
He further added about how generous CM Punk is, "And I'll go on the record as saying, like, I'd heard horror stories about Punk being this a**hole, being difficult to deal with, being a big-headed guy that no one wants to work with, and when he came back to WWE, it could not have been the opposite.
I met this guy who was humble, polite, wanted to work with people, and I'm pretty sure he went to the office, and he said he wanted this match.
I don't think it came from the office; I think it came from Punk." Balor explained that the two have built a strong working relationship since Punk's WWE return, adding that the veteran has been generous with advice and willing to help younger talent behind the scenes. Meanwhile, WWE star CM Punk has officially moved to SmackDown after defeating Sami Zayn to become the new WWE champion. WWE has confirmed that Punk will appear on this upcoming edition of SmackDown and will go live from Oklahoma City this Friday. His appearance at SmackDown is expected to provide more information about his plans leading up to this year’s SummerSlam premium live event (PLE). As both Balor and Punk move to the blue brand, it will be interesting to see what WWE has to offer to its fans and viewers in the coming weeks.
